Jen Petersen, Ph.D.

Since 1994, Jen has worked in and between the public, private, and non-profit sectors of New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit, advancing business efforts to increase profit with equity through the creation of shared value. In all of her pursuits she mobilizes robust quantitative and qualitative social and spatial data analysis through deep emotional intelligence. In the creative services, Jen develops excellent client relationships, providing thought leadership, and aligning her teams' internal capacities for custom service delivery. She also advises market-transforming investors, asset managers, and entrepreneurs, assessing risk and opportunity in social investment and business development ventures, often structuring operations to follow strategy. Jen has advised corporate occupiers of real estate on spatial and technological infrastructure management to maximize employee productivity, produced commercial real estate conferences, and often serves as an informal PR agent for talented but undersung individuals and firms. She has taught courses in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Leonard Stern School of Business and Management, and the School for Continuing and Professional Studies at New York University, and also at Occidental College. Jen led an undergraduate urban studies semester program in Los Angeles, and has worked as a community organizer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Occidental College and both Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology from New York University. She maintains a Global Reporting Initiative certification and a New York State Real Estate Salesperson license. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington.
